I had such a fun morning with you both. Thank you so much for contacting me to do pictures. She is just a doll. And I know I’m only suppose to post one picture on a sneak but I couldn’t decide so I’m doing two. Enjoy!

For Mother’s Day each year I ask to take pictures of my children. If you are a photographer, you know that your own children are your toughest client….they will not follow directions and know all of your tricks. Will give you looks like they are eating soap and just complain or cry. But today, it worked. The smiled. They laughed. And I’m so thankful.

And Mother’s Day you are going to read lots of sweet sentiments, cry at Publix commercials and P&G Facebook stuff, so in typical Danielle fashion I thought I would mix it up a bit and share a few quotes from Scary Mom blog ….so instead of sweet tears I hope you have laughing tears.

Motherhood is not remembering what it’s like to get a full night’s sleep.

Motherhood is siblings bickering over who can look out of which window and who started it and who you love the most even though you love all of them the same but at the moment you don’t like any of them in the least.

Motherhood is wiping more poop than you ever thought you’d see in your life.

Motherhood is a car so filthy that you are embarrassed to let your own husband see it.

Motherhood is hearing the word “why” at least a hundred times a day and most of the time, not having an answer.

Motherhood is knowing, just from the touch of a forehead, almost exactly what your child’s temperature is.

Motherhood is stretch marks dominating your belly and feet a full size larger than before and sad, deflated boobs.

Motherhood is finally appreciating your own mother.

Motherhood is fantasizing over reaching the bottom of the laundry pile, knowing full well that it’s never going to happen.

Motherhood is singing all the words to your kids favorite songs even though they annoy the hell out of you.

Motherhood is never feeling at peace unless all of your children are with you, under your own roof.

Motherhood is always feeling mildly sick but never being able to wallow in your own misery.

Motherhood is never peeing or showering in peace.

Motherhood is using your sleeves to wipe runny noses and your spit to clean dirty faces.

Motherhood is being able to identify just who is coming down the stairs based solely on the thudding of their feet above you.

Motherhood is not even wanting to say “I told you so” even though you did, countless times.

Motherhood is when, just as you want to curl up into a ball of pure exhaustion and desperation, one of your children suddenly farts or burps or does something spontaneously funny. It’s the moment when you dissolve into a hysterical fit of laughter; the kind that you haven’t had since you and your seventh grade BFF were caught passing notes about which boy in your class you’d most want to be stuck in a closet with. It’s the moment you pause and look at your children, all piled on your bed, breathless and rosy cheeked, and think that the only things that really matter in the world are right there in front of you. They are yours, and they are worth every sacrifice and sleepless night.

And then, it’s the moment, two seconds later, when one of them will accidentally kick the other one on the arm and the other will bite in retaliation and you will wish, for the hundredth time that day, that you could just rewind time and savor that peace and joy for more than an instant.

We decided to use our creative portion of our brains for this week’s Summer Fun by making puppets. I found the puppets at Hobby Lobby for $1.99. The boys had a great time coloring them; and then of course attacking the puppet in a puppet war. (I’m betting this doesn’t happen in all girl families …does it?). And the boys favorite part …snacks and soda. They love the Izze all natural soda and so do I. This activity didn’t last as long as the squirt guns, but it was a good 30-minutes of creative time with Mom and away from the TV time.

I’m always on the hunt for fun activities for the boys. Something to get them either out of the house running around or using their artistic and creative side. We are still, yes still, in the process of moving to Greenville from Atlanta so we are without a majority of our stuff …err, their toys (all in storage). And we are saving money for our house. So my challenge to myself is -how do I make them have a wonderful, special summer without breaking the bank?

I know lots of Moms in the same boat…want to do something fun and inexpensive so I thought I would do a Summer Fun post each week with our favorite activity (or activities). I’d also love any suggestions you may have.

This week …..squirt tubes. We found ours at Hobby Lobby on sale for $1.20 a piece. We ran around squirting one another for almost two hours. Even Daddy joined in when he got home. We had a few tears at first, from Colton, when first getting squirted. Then it was pure laughter and excitement. Especially from me. Sometimes you just have to forget about all the things on your plate. All the stress of the day. And just be a kid again. Get dirty. Run. Get wet. Play with your kids on their level. Oh I wish you could see the glee in Ridge’s face when he would squirt me in the face….part joy and part mischievous. And the pride from Colton when he finally figured out how to get water in his tube.

Enjoy!

I first met Campbell when she was 3-months old …and now look at her…sitting, smiling, full head of hair, eating grass and just being oh so cute. We had a wonderful morning in the park and the weather was just perfect. I know parents worry about overcast skies, but let me tell you, your photographer is doing a happy dance because overcast skies are our dream. Perfect even lighting …mmmmm.

And I’m sticking to the one picture sneak which was sooooo hard for me. There are so many pictures of Campbell I want to share …will do so after Mom and Dad see them.

A Bryson Saturday …

Working on the weekends can be hard when you have little kids because little kids have activities …birthday parties, soccer games, etc all on Saturday and often you just have to miss them. But not today. I missed Ridge’s first soccer game ever last week, but this week I had my schedule down. I would finish with work and get to go straight to his game. And today I got to see my boy play.

And I learned it’s not really soccer he wants to play, but baseball. So after a game of hide-and-seek in the rain, we went to the ball field to work on his baseball skills. Daddy is his coach and he can not get enough. And little Colton just wants to be Batman. All the time. Grocery store, school, Church, so a Saturday Batman running around is the usual at the Bryson household …well, unless he is Green Lantern…or Superman….or Iron Man. And we finished the day off with homemade pizza and Treasure Planet movie.

And I do have to brag that Ridge is also a coach….he coached Colton to poop and pee on the potty in the last two days. I think Colton is going to pick up on potty training pretty quickly. He gets so excited and whispers “yesssss!” when he is done.

We are trying to find some fun family activities with the boys. If we haven’t chatted in a while we are still in transition living with my parents …but the good news is we are building a house in Greenville. We are so excited, but won’t be able to move in until Sept. If you have any fun ideas to keep the boys active – please let me know. Always looking for something fun and new.

Hope all is well. Thanks for reading.

And if you didn’t know …I also travel for shoots. I’ve been covering Atlanta, Greenville/Spartanburg, Columbia and Charlotte. Also thinking about a trip to Charleston in the near future.

Love, Danielle
