Happy Valentine’s Day! Hope you have a wonderful day with loved ones.
My husband and I actually don’t celebrate Valentine’s Day but we do shower the boys with chocolate hearts, cards, kisses and a toy or two….because holidays are the best for kids and some of my favorite memories growing up are around the holidays. The little surprises when you would wake up, the holiday color coded clothes, notes in the lunch boxes and an extra hug or two from Mom. But hubby said he hit the jackpot that we don’t celebrate Valentine’s. Less pressure on gift giving…especially since Christmas and my birthday were only weeks away. When we were dating, and even up until our first year of marriage, he thought it was some kind of test when I would tell him not to get my anything or make any plans but now he knows. For me, I’d rather have a surprise dinner, go hiking, or just watch a silly girl movie on a whim than a thought out event marked on the calendar each year. And I’m not big on flowers and fancy dinners either…I’d rather go to a Braves game and eat a NY hot dog with a cold beer. Again, he feels he hit the jackpot. But really I did because he is the best husband and father in the world. Or galaxy if you asked Ridge (he is a Star Wars nut).
But whatever your traditions are, I hope you have a wonderful day filled with love and joy!
